We’re back in the Northmuir Hall where we will preview the coming season and show a selection of images from the Summer Challenge Topics.  There will also be a Mount Cutting and Framing demonstration for part of the evening.   A  challenge topic will be set for September.

Please remember to pay your membership fees of £20 and bring the completed Membership Renewal Form with you.

Print of the Year – Submission of Mounted Prints

The Print of The Year will go ahead as normal.  There will be 1 collection date  – Saturday 6th of March. Alistair Carrie will be at the Bellies Brae car park in Kirriemuir between 12pm and 3pm and will have the club competition print box open in his car for you to drop your prints in without him having to touch them. The prints will be left in the box for 2 days before they are then posted to the judge.

Mini Portfolios & Five Minutes of Fame

Mini-Portfolio – A repeat of the enjoyable and informative image sharing we had in October.
Volunteers required to provide 6 images for discussion and comments.

5 Minutes of Fame – Club members will give short talks on a photography topic they’re passionate about
This is also the Hand in Deadline for our themed competition (Paths, Trails, Roads, Rails) to be held on on 17th February.

Christmas Quiz

Christmas Quiz – Our annual festive night migrates to Zoom!  How will it work?  Will it work? It’s a
work in progress so pens and paper at the ready !  Sadly no tasty buffet to mingle round this year
but there’s nothing to stop you setting out the drinks and nibbles for yourself.
Note also that this is the hand-in deadline for the Knockout Competition on 6th January.

Group Outing to Killiecrankie, By Pitlochry

Group outing to photograph the Autumn colours at Killicrankie pass. We may also stop at Loch Faskally if conditions are good. Meet at the visitor centre car park at 12:00.

Step-by-Step Editing and Processing

We will have 3 members each talking about how they’ve processed one of their own images. Shown in 6 or 7 photographic stages, they’ll describe their process and the editing between each image from “Straight out of Camera” to the final, saved photograph.

We’ll have a Q&A session afterwards to allow questions from the members about what they’ve seen.

Open Competition

Open Competition; 3 Divisions; Judge David Sadler will give his results via Zoom

Mini-Portfolio & Photographers’ Question Time

We have an evening of image and knowledge sharing planned.

Four brave souls have volunteered to put forward a Mini-Portfolio of 6 images for our pleasure. There will be an open discussion on the images, the photographers can give a brief explanation of the set and members can offer opinions or ask questions on each image, or on the set as a whole.

For the second half of the meeting we’re trying out a new idea – Photographers Question Time. Inspired by the Radio 4 programme “Gardeners Question Time”, we’ll have a panel of 3 of our seasoned experts in the club ready to answer your photographic queries. Please send your questions to Alistair via the contact email on the club website.

Club Meeting by Zoom.

Our first Zoom Meeting was a great success with 24 members attending. The meeting begins at 7pm, but why not join us this time from 6.45pm to get used to the interface and say hello to other members ?

In a varied evening, Bob Smith will update us on the WFG Hide which has proved very popular and provided a host of excellent wildlife images. Brian Forsyth will be giving a short presentation on his recent foray into Night Sky Photography along with his images of the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis and Alistair Carrie will be giving a tutorial on how to clean your camera sensor !  To round off the evening of time allows, we also hope to show a good number of members’ images from the most recent fortnightly outings.

So lots to see and learn – see you online !

Group Outing to Dundee for Street and Urban Architecture

Please note that the original meeting place for this outing has been changed to Riverside, at the Railway Carriage Coffee Shop at the end of the Rail Bridge. From there we can form small groups and decide what and where we want to go shooting.
